We understand the importance of educating you on chiropractic care so that you can heal quickly.
Our services include a holistic approach based on sound medical knowledge. We provide a customized plan to manage pain while enabling physical rehabilitation. We specialize in healing injuries caused by automobile accidents, sports injuries, and workplace injuries. We can help reverse the effects of injuries caused by repetitive motion, poor posture, and poor lifting habits. At Southwest Back and Neck Clinic, we believe in promoting wellness through both injury prevention and health maintenance.
Dr. Marlow, our experienced on-site chiropractor is knowledgeable in spinal and chiropractic adjustments. The purpose of spinal adjustments is to return the spine to a natural state of health and to reduce pain, muscle spasms, and nerve irritation, so you can enjoy your life pain free.
Dr. Marlow understands the stress and pain patients are in following personal injury accidents. He will analyze, diagnose, and create an individualized treatment plan for whiplash and soft tissue injuries. He will thoroughly explain your treatment and update your insurance agency on your behalf.
Most work injuries are caused by overuse and repetitive stress injuries. Overtime, small tasks done with poor posture can lead to acute and chronic pain, which can result in reduced worker productivity, lost time from work, disability, and an inability to perform job tasks. We can help reduce and reverse the effects of injuries caused by repetitive motion, posture, and lifting habits.

Dr. John Marlow is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Chiropractic in 1991.
He is also a registered nurse, so is able to draw on his medical knowledge in diagnosing and treating patients.
Dr. Marlow has treated:
Dr. Marlow says:
Many times a person comes to me with a special complaint-neck or back pain, for example. Before anyone is treated, I take a thorough medical history. During this time my most important role is to listen. My registered nurse's training has honed my listening and observation skills-allowing me to serve my patients better. What is the patient really saying? How is she acting? What's going on with him?
Then I do a complete examination, and if needed, refer a new patient to get an X-ray, scan, MRI or other tests.
When I have studied everything I have learned about the patient I then put together an unique and detailed treatment plan to make sure the patient gets the individual care they need to become well and whole again.
I believe that Chiropractic care is an important part of a persons overall wellness. Many people have regularly scheduled adjustments on a periodic basis.

Your gut the "second brain"
Did you know humans have two brains? The brain in the head is filled with neurons and is busy directing the body in all it's complex funtions. The second brain is in the gut, also known as the alimentary canal.
Michael Gershon, chairman of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at New York–Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center explains, "The second brain consists of sheaths of neurons embedded in the walls of the long tube of our gut, or alimentary canal, which measures about nine meters end to end from the esophagus to the anus. The second brain contains some 100 million neurons, more than in either the spinal cord or the peripheral nervous system."
Why is this important? Many times the health of our body can be discerned in the gut. All of us have experienced "butterflis in the stomach" when we have a stressful situation coming up. We may have felt a "gut feeling" about someone or something that latter proved to be true. When we have been eating less than healthy food our gut will be sure to let us know.
The gut can be a red light that something in our lives needs to be changed or adjusted. Eating healthy foods, exercising, destressing, and getting regular adjustments can help our gut to funtion properly. Listen to your "second brain." A healthy gut is a healthy body!
Did you know certain nutrients can relieve stress, inprove your mood and increase your energy?
Deficiencies cans make you depressed and lethargic. B Vitamins, Iodine, Iron, Vitamin D, Selenium, Magnesium, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids are the main culprits. Eating the right foods such as Fatty fish, dark chocolate, fermented foods, bananas, oats, berries and nuts and seeds can help but lets face it who always eats everything they should?
Supplimentation is a must in these busy times. Dr. Marlow has a full line of Standard Process nutitional suppliments to help his patients augment their diets. Ask us for more information. It pays to stay healthy!

April 7, 2008 Being a professional glass artist, an ability to maintain a high level of physical performance is as essential to my work as it would be to a professional athlete. I was having issues with both my hip and my knee, and had been previously working with a different local chiropractor renowned for his work with professional athletes. What that doctor had failed to correct, Dr. John accomplished in a single visit. I've been without pain or discomfort since that visit, and it is without reservation that I give my highest recommendation of the services of Dr. John.

I've been to many chiropractors, and simply put, Dr. Marlow is the best. He's the best because he has great technical skills - he knows chiropractic methods inside and out. But of equal importance - he genuinely cares. Because of that, he really focuses on doing everything possible to give me the pain relief and wellness I'm looking for. And he's a great guy, very friendly and easy to work with. I recommend him highly!

I have been going to Dr. John for about two years for both maintenance and repairs when golf swing or gardening gets out of control. He has done an excellent job of keeping me flexible and feeling great. Always happy to refer a friend or client to him.
